Hello families!
Just 4 weeks left of school, oh my! We are still working hard every day and enjoying our last few weeks together as a whole class. Please encourage your child to continue working hard and staying on task each day. May 1st is when the Montessori Gala Committee is asking that all donations be turned in. If you're able to help with our Breakfast Basket, please send your item in with your child this week. So far we have a box of bisquick, jelly, jam, and a spatula. Any donations are so appreciated! Our next field trip is Thursday, we will be departing the school around 12:30 and walking over to the Pioneer School. Please remind your child of the safety concerns when walking along streets. We talk about these in class a lot, before, during, and after field trips but it is so, so important. Any child who is unable to safely walk to and from field trip destinations will have to sit the next walking field trip out. We think of each field trip as an interview for the next; safety first! There will NOT be a new snack calendar for May. We have a lot of left over snack from the year that we will use up these last few weeks. Thank you for sending snack in on your day all year, the kids and I both really appreciate it! Christine Homan :)

Hello!
We are down to just 5 weeks left of school! Lots to be done in these next 5 weeks, please remind your child that their job is to stay focused and continue to work hard. We will also be playing hard these next few weeks but we need to make sure that we are wrapping up our projects and pushing through all of this delicious sunlight and harnessing this new found energy! This Friday is our first (of many!) field trips for the end of the year. We will be walking downtown to the Railroad Depot and taking a train to Westchester Lagoon and back. This will be quite a walk, please prepare your kids for this as will I in class. Our chaperones for this trip are: Peter Yien, Linda Erickson, and Sarah Switzer. *May 8th- The Montessori Gala will be at the Anchorage Museum again this year. We are currently looking for donations from companies within the community. I have already secured Guardian Security, Amber's Olive Company, and Bagoy's Florist. Do you have any connections within the community that may be interested in donating an item for our auction? As a class we are putting together a Breakfast Basket! Please help! We only have pancake mix and jelly for our basket so far! Here are some ideas for donations to our basket that the kids brainstormed: Mixing bowls Syrup Spatulas Skillet Coffee mugs Coffee Oven mits Cookie cutters (think fun egg shapes!) Thank you to Chloe and family for sending in pancake mix and jelly already! I'm also asking that each student send in a family-favorite breakfast recipe. We will compile this and illustrate them to create an awesome classroom recipe book to include in our basket! Thank you to Benjamin and Aden for bringing that in already! Next week, April 24th, we will be walking downtown to the Railroad Depot to take a short train ride over to Westchester Lagoon and back. Immediately after that, April 28th, we are going to the PAC to watch The Gruffalo's Child! Thank you to our wonderful chaperones for making this happen! We are wrapping up our Africa research in class and the kids are busy preparing for their presentations. Please talk to your child about what they are doing for their visual and food/music sample for the day of the family presentation. This is a requirement for all students; the visual can be a clothing sample, poster, photos, an artifact or anything else! They also need to provide a food sample from their country or music sampling. We will be inviting you to attend the presentation that will take place on May 13th. Time has yet to be decided. Thank you for all of your support. I know that we are hitting you up a lot right now for money for field trips, fundraisers, yearbooks and more. We so appreciate all that you're able to do and contribute! Christine Homan Yahoo!! AMP testing is complete!
Last week was draining, exciting, and challenging for everyone but we made it through and now we have the last few weeks of the school year to wrap up projects and enjoy our awesome field trips that are coming up quickly. We have several things coming up within the school, one very important event is the Peace Concert that will take place on the 9th. This is a wonderful fundraising event that you can bring the whole family to and bid on a variety of delicious desserts while enjoying some lovely entertainment. All of the money raised will be donated to the Malawi Children's Village in Africa. How wonderful is that? So come on out and bid on some delicious desserts and have a good time with the rest of the school! The flyer should have made its way home last week, if you need additional information please email me. The second annual Montessori Gala is quickly approaching as well! In May we will be throwing another fundraiser to benefit Denali Montessori directly. This fundraiser is a fun, adult-only evening hosted at the Anchorage Museum. Childcare will be provided at the school. As a classroom, we are asked to put together a basket that will be auctioned off at the gala. Our theme is: Breakfast Basket. Here are some ideas for donations to our basket: Mixing bowls Pancake mix Syrup Spatulas Skillet Coffee mugs Coffee Oven mits Cookie cutters (think fun egg shapes!) Whisk Waffle maker Gift cards to grocery stores An apron And anything else you would like to contribute! I so appreciate you helping out with this. Please send in your donation item when you can, I will edit our list as needed and send it out over the next few weeks with updates to it. You can also email me to ask what is still needed or what we already have if you would like. Thank you, thank you for your support! You guys rock! Happy spring! Christine Homan :) |
