Hello families,

Hello!
This last week was great, the kids were really focused and responsible in the classroom. Our Free Little Library is coming along beautifully thanks to the help of Jessica. She has been working with the kids to design and paint the library by grade level. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it is all finished and posted on the school grounds. I am organizing a fundraiser for one of the families in our classroom. Their youngest son is waiting to have a heart transplant and was recently flown out of state to await this long process. So far I have one hour of live music lined up, a silent auction being organized, and food/drinks being sorted out. If you have anything you would like to donate to our fundraiser (time, skill set, auction item?), please let me know. The event will be on November 21st, I'm thinking it will be a 5-7pm type of event. More details are to come soon! Our next field trip is on Friday, the 13th. We are going to the Apple Store. If you are available to go with us I would appreciate the extra help. I've heard that this field trip goes more smoothly with extra hands to help the kids navigate the computers. Thank you to those who have already said they can go! Have a great week! Christine Important Dates: November 13th- Apple Store field trip November 21st- Spreading the Love to the Seay Family Fundraiser Hello wonderful families,
Welcome to the second quarter of the school year, already! It amazes me at how quickly time passes. We have been working hard in class and showing responsible work habits and choices. This week we have new Hokki Stools arriving!! Each grade level will now have 4 stools to use, which is so wonderful, and it is all in thanks to the Chevron Fuel Your School Donor's Choose program. I often use Donor's Choose to fund projects/materials for our classroom and Chevron does a special grant program at the beginning of each school year for teachers. They give us the opportunity to spend $1,000 for materials. How amazing is that? We have several field trips coming up in the next two months. Please make sure to check out the Field Trip tab to see which field trip you can accompany us on. We need at least 5 chaperones for every field trip. Without our parental support we would not be able to make these trips happen; you and your time away from your daily schedule is so, so appreciated! This Friday is our next field trip and we are covered; thank you to those who have offered to walk with us to see Click Clack Moo! In class right now we are focusing on the Timeline of Life. Ask your child what this is! We have created gorgeous timelines that are posted in the hallway for you to see. This is our focus for our science and culture for the next month in class. Have you been in our room lately? Gus's dad, Jon, built an awesome Free Little Library for our community project and Jackson's mom, Jessica, is working with the kids in small groups to paint it. It is coming along beautifully! Do you have books you can donate to our library? The idea behind this project is for those in the community to take a book to read, leave a book they're done with, and to spread a love for literacy! All genres and reading levels would be wonderful! Please do not go out and buy new books; used books are perfect! You can send them into class with your child and we will find a place to store them so we can manage and cycle books through the library. **If you arrive at school before the bell, please wait until all of the students have been dismissed to enter the classroom. We are learning how to be responsible and respectful individuals. The last few minutes of the day are very important for our daily routine and carrying out these tasks. As always, come see me any morning between 7 and 8:30 or after school until 4pm. You can also catch me by email or through Remind. Christine Homan :) Important Dates: November 5th- Click Clack Moo!
